Text Box: LCdr M.P. (Pat) Cornect was born  in April 1952 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and grew up on the West Coast of Newfoundland.  In 1970 he returned to NS where he enrolled in the CF as a Communications Research Operator, MOC 291. Following technical training at HMCS Gloucester, he spent 19 years in the 291 MOC serving at all  Supplementary Radio System sites and CSE as a Russian Linguist.   In 1990, at the rank of Petty Officer First Class, he accepted a commission and began a new career as a Sub-Lieutenant in the communications engineering qualification.   
Mixed in with advanced engineering training, he completed his university education; BA in 1992 and  MA, from the Royal Military  College, in 2001.  That year, he was also promoted to his current rank and posted to CFSCE as the Officer Commanding Standards Squadron.  In the summer of 2003, LCdr Cornect was selected as Chief of Communications for the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.  Although offered a promotion to the next rank, he opted for early retirement in Sep 2005.
Text Box: As a Communications and Electronics Engineer, LCdr Pat Cornect held various positions including: Operations Support Officer and Deputy Operations Officer at CFS Leitrim, 1992-94; Technical Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer at CFS Alert, 1994; Joint Operations Communications Officer for missions in Cambodia, Haiti, Rwanda, and the Middle East, 1994-96; Wing Technical and Information Systems Officer for 16 Wing Borden, 1996-2001; and Officer Commanding Standards Squadron at CFSCE Kingston.  During his stint in Joint Operations LCdr Cornect conducted on-site communications inspections at various locations including, Rwanda, Middle East (Isreal, Egypt and Kuwait) and Cyprus.
